It is our mission to use a rigorous and integrated curriculum, along with a student-centered approach, to inspire our students to take full ownership of their education to achieve academic success, as well as social and emotional well-being. Through the pursuit of excellence in authentic intellectual and artistic work, we will graduate students who are effective leaders in their community and impactful global citizens.

The Magnet for Arts and Sciences at Sotomayor is a STEAM Magnet and a Linked Learning community that prepares students to graduate from high school and to succeed in a full range of options after graduation. We will use a multi-disciplinary approach that integrates project-based learning in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics, and Humanities. When students reach high school, they will follow career-themed pathways, choosing among fields in the arts and environmental sciences. This integrated approach to learning, along with collaborative teaching practices, will result in high levels of proficiency that allows students to be workforce ready and to succeed in college, career, and life.

At Magnet for Arts and Sciences at Sotomayor, we believe that all students have infinite potential. We prepare students to succeed using a Linked Learning approach, framed by national, global, and multicultural perspectives. Graduates will possess the knowledge and skills of responsible citizens, lifelong learners, and will be prepared for a variety of post-graduation options.
