Hello Sotomayor Families,

We are entering our third week of school closure and we are SO missing our students at Sotomayor Arts and Sciences Magnet.  Your child’s education is very important to us. Teachers are continuing to provide standard based assignments and will continue to grade students during the closure. All students are expected to log on to Schoology and check their email, Monday through Friday for their assignments and to communicate with their teachers.

A virtual bell schedule will be posted later this week on our website at Sotomayor.la. This will provide guidance of what their school day should look like at home and when teachers will have office hours to support them. This is a team effort and we need your help to keep students on track.  If you have questions don’t hesitate to email the teachers, counselors, and an administrator. We are all available to support.

Please note there will be no school on Friday, April 3rd and Spring Break is from April 6-10th.

We will see everyone back online Monday, April 13th.

Stay safe and healthy!

Sincerely Your Principal,

Ms. Barela

Sotomayor's Class of 2019 Valedictorian, Sofia Almada, was a guest speaker at the Groundbreaking Event on June 10, 2019.

Finding Shelter tells the stories of several unaccompanied minors seeking refuge in the US and how their real life experiences were made into an internationally acclaimed play in 2016. The new documentary focuses on the young immigrants whose real-life experiences informed the play. Some of them were former students at Sotomayor, where the premiere screening of the film took place.
